Outreach at the Children's Hospital

We love to share Forest Park’s wildlife with others! In July, we visited the St. Louis Children’s Hospital with nature activities for patients to enjoy. Kids got to discover what bones are found in owl pellets, practice weighing “turtles” to assess their health, and take activity pages to-go. Willard, a Red-tailed Hawk from the World Bird Sanctuary, was the most popular one there. He even made an appearance on the Hospital’s CCTV network for patients who couldn’t leave their rooms!

In collaboration with the Missouri Department of Conservation, we had pelts, raptor wings, and talons for kids to feel and discover.

Patients took activity sheets with them to learn about food webs and animal movement.

Willard, the Red-tailed Hawk, handled by Jeff Meshach. Willard was a big hit with adults and kids alike!
